Sylviane Muller, an exceptional career and the Robert-Lohr prize

Sylviane Muller, professor at the University of Strasbourg and CNRS research director, recipient of numerous awards, received the Robert Lohr Prize on June 12, 2025, for her pioneering work in immunology and her long-standing commitment to the fight against autoimmune diseases.

This brilliant CNRS researcher has established herself as a leader in the study of autoimmune pathologies, particularly systemic lupus erythematosus, a disease that is currently complex to treat and has limited therapeutic options. She had already received the prestigious CNRS Medal of Innovation, and this new award further recognizes and highlights the influence of her work in translational research.

For more than three decades, Sylviane has devoted her research to a detailed understanding of the molecular and cellular mechanisms of autoimmunity. Her work has led to the identification and development of the therapeutic peptide P140, a molecule that modulates lysosomal autophagy. This molecule, currently in advanced clinical evaluation, represents a major innovation in the treatment of lupus and also in the potential treatment of other autoimmune diseases.

Her approach is rigorous, cross-disciplinary, and collaborative. Furthermore, her scientific excellence and commitment to technology transfer highlight the role of women in the world of scientific research and position French research on the international stage.

The Force Foundation is honoring her with the Robert Lohr Prize to recognize her exemplary scientific career, rooted in a commitment to excellence, perseverance, and patient well-being.

Congratulations, Sylviane!
